Down the Rabbit Hole – Poetry

DSC09789

Photo Challenge: Depth

Down, down, the rabbit hole
As I look about, only darkness welcomes me
Drowning in obscurity,
No one else for company, but my thoughts
Hatless madness befriending me

Down, down, the rabbit hole
Hands begin to crawl up my spine
First gently, placing themselves on my shoulders
Then crawling up, around my neck, choking me

Down, down, the rabbit hole
It seems, the fall will never end
Afraid? I’m not afraid of falling
What will become of me when I reach the ground?
That is the terror
